I have 25 years of experience working with people to aid them improve their mental health and strength of their families. I have a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington and am a Washington State Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. In addition to therapeutic work with individuals and families, I have served as the Clinical Director at Kent Youth and Family Services, as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem and as an Ombudsman for the Washington State Office of Family and Children’s Ombudsman. I bring all my experience and energy to help you build a more satisfying life.
In my work with clients I seek to build skills to improve decision making, manage difficult emotions and create strong relationships. The foundation of my practice is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based psychotherapeutic method proven to be effective in many rigorous clinical studies. Cognitive therapy emphasizes problem-solving and is focused on the present. In my work with people I am authentic, pragmatic, direct and clear. Where appropriate, I also bring a sense of humor to my work.
I have several areas of expertise:
- Adolescents experiencing challenges with their transition to independent adulthood. I have extensive experience working with adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety and struggling with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Adults experiencing life transitions.
- Adults experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty managing stress and building satisfying relationships.
- Couples of all shapes and sizes, with specific experience related to raising children. I have received training in and utilize the Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work.
